Pemaknaan Ruang dan Simbol Arsitektural dalam Puisi Monumen Tanpa Bayang di Khatulistiwa Karya Alfarid Rahman Hakim untuk Pembelajaran Apresiasi Sastra
Kajian Ruang dan Simbol Arsitektural
Keywords:
puisi, ruang, simbol, apresiasi sastraAbstract
This research generally uses a semiotic and/or genetic structuralism approach to uncover hidden meanings, particularly those related to the social and cultural context behind architectural symbols.Analysis Focus: The primary focus is on how architectural elements (such as monuments, shadows, the equator, etc.) function not only as physical settings but also as symbols reflecting social, political, or existential issues. The concept of space is analyzed as a container of meaning that interacts with the subject (human) and history. The analysis shows that this poem is rich in architectural metaphors that imply themes such as: loss of identity, spiritual crisis, historical neglect, or the contradiction between an ideal promise (the monument) and a meaningless reality (without shadows). The monument here is often interpreted not as a structure of glory, but as a reminder of emptiness or irony. This in-depth analysis is highly relevant to learning literary appreciation. This poem can be used to teach students:Symbol Analysis: Identifying and interpreting complex symbols beyond their literal meaning.Understanding Context: Connecting a literary work to its historical, cultural, and geographical context (in this case, the concept of the Equator).Interpreting Space: Understanding how physical elements such as space and buildings are transformed into themes and messages by the poet. Keywords: Poetry, Monument Without Shadows on the Equator, Alfarid Rahman Hakim, Semiotics, Architectural Symbols, Literary Appreciation
