The Spice Route is one of the oldest global trade routes, connecting Southeast Asia with Europe from the Middle Ages to the modern era. This study aims to uncover the contribution of the Spice Route in establishing trade relations between Southeast Asia and Europe, as well as its influence on the economy and politics at the global level. The methodology adopted is a literature study with a historical approach using various references from scientific journals published in the last ten years. The research findings reveal that the Spice Route was a major driver of European arrivals in Southeast Asia, which had an impact on the acceleration of globalization in trade and triggered colonization. On the other hand, goods such as pepper, cloves, and nutmeg made the Indonesian archipelago a center of the world economy at that time. This route not only functioned as a link in trade, but also as a medium for the exchange of culture, technology, and power between various regions.
