Policies and Guidelines

Peer Review Process

MASA: Journal of History employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles. Submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the editorial board for relevance, originality, and alignment with the journal's scope. If deemed suitable, the manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the field of history education or scientific history. The double-blind process ensures anonymity for both authors and reviewers to maintain impartiality. Reviewers assess manuscripts based on academic merit, including originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field. Possible outcomes include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. Authors must address reviewer comments within 2–4 weeks, and revised manuscripts may undergo further review if necessary. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewer recommendations and editorial policies.

Publication Ethics

MASA: Journal of History adheres to the ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The journal upholds principles of neutrality, justice, and honesty. Editors ensure fairness in the review process, maintain confidentiality, and avoid conflicts of interest. Authors must submit original work, properly cite sources, and avoid redundant or concurrent submissions. Reviewers provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback while maintaining confidentiality. Ethical misconduct, such as plagiarism or data fabrication, is addressed promptly, with actions including manuscript rejection, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions.

Open Access Policy

MASA: Journal of History is an open-access journal, providing immediate access to its content to support global knowledge exchange. All articles are accessible online without subscription barriers, ensuring broad dissemination to researchers, educators, and the public. Archive Policy

The journal employs LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems for long-term preservation and accessibility of its content. These decentralized archiving systems ensure permanent availability of published articles across participating libraries. Additionally, MASA maintains its own digital archive to safeguard content for future access, supporting the preservation of scholarly research in history education and scientific history.

Policy of Plagiarism

MASA: Journal of History enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy to uphold academic integrity. All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or similar tools to ensure originality. A similarity index exceeding 20% results in immediate rejection. Authors must submit original work, properly cite sources, and avoid self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or salami-slicing. Post-publication plagiarism is addressed following COPE guidelines, with possible actions including errata, clarifications, or article retraction.
